Software School Exhibit

For the Children’s Museum of Houston, we created a kid-friendly software system that allowed museum goers to control a lobster and bird robot. This exhibit features a custom interface and game-like user interaction involving animation and audio feedback.

DINO developed the robot characters and designed the user interface and system behind robot control.  We also created sound, touch and sight sensors, and animatronic motion control and performance. Educational design by Argyle Designs.  Kiosk fabrication by Erich Rose Design.

AuntyE – Kid’s Entertainer Website

The client, Moujaes Studios, needed a complete content management system for an entertainer’s official site. The site, aimed at children ages 5-10, included a blog, flash games, and multimedia content.

Development by DINO.

Black & White & Red All Over

This was our entry for Mini Ludum Dare 14- a collaborate game made using Processing. You play the role of the mustachioed newspaper editor who is trying to maintain a balanced coverage of world events. When the game loads, press any key to begin and then use the up/down arrow keys to catch incoming headlines. Some are tragic… some are comic… your balance-o-meter will tell you fair and balanced you are being in your headline gobbling. Headline sources include realtime Google News Feeds and Onion.

Ambient Text Mashup of Modest Mouse

This applet was made in Processing of Hashmap and Frequency audio/visual libraries. It loads the lyrics of the song “The Good Times Are Killing Me” by Modest Mouse and makes repeating words larger. The title and chorus words of the song throb to the beat of the music while turning red.

Robodino Bond

In this piece there is an integrated LED light in the paper surface of the drawing and drawn characters involved in this interaction. The robot’s heart is linked to pressing the dinosaur’s heart which causes it to alight.

RIP My Love

In this piece there are 2 integrated LED lights in the paper surface of the drawing and drawn characters surrounding this interaction. Pressing your fingers against the gravestone makes the ghost’s eyes light up with electric anger.
